COVID-19 Catch-up Premium
In June 2020 the government announced £1 billion of funding to support children and young people to catch up on missed learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. School allocations are calculated on a per pupil basis. Further information regarding the Catch-up Premium can be found here.
Publicly-funded schools in England get extra funding from the government to help them improve the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils. Evidence shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds generally face extra challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as their peers. The pupil premium grant is designed to allow schools to help disadvantaged pupils by improving their progress and outcomes. Further information about Pupil Premium funding can be found here.
Department for Education - Articles and advice for children and young people
The School Sport and Activity Action Plan set out government’s commitment to ensuring that children and young people have access to at least 60 minutes of sport and physical activity per day, with a recommendation of 30 minutes of this delivered during the school day. Sports Premium funding is intended to help primary schools to achieve this aim through additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of the PE, physical activity and sport offered.
